Kenny, who is a middle-aged businessman, leaves work at approximately 8:55pm and heads for his favorite diner for an after work coffee. Always a happy go lucky kind of a flirt he comments to a pretty girl on the way in then hugs his favorite waitress and sits in his favorite seat at the back of the diner. Directly in front of him at the other end of the diner sits Celia, a middle aged business lady who seems to have something on her mind whilst sipping her coffee. She pulls out her compact mirror for a little face touch up and seems puzzled by the reflection she sees over her shoulder at the rear of the diner. She gathers her things and leaves. Kenny looks up briefly and leaves in a hurry. As he exits the diner he sees the car with Celia driving away and drives away himself in the same direction quite quickly. At some point Celia becomes aware of the same blinding headlights in her mirror and appears nervous. She eventually arrives at the meeting place of her friend who hands her a bottle from the liquor store, which had been purchased for her before the store closed. She thanks her friend and heads home but is still aware that the same car seems to be behind her. She pulls in her driveway and goes inside and Kenny, whose route has taken him in the same direction pauses for a moment to watch Celia go inside. He smiles and drives away to visit his regular bar where he is joined by a young lady for a chat during which he indicates he has a great plan for later. Celia still appearing a little nervous has a drink and settles in front of the TV and drifts off for a nap. She hears a loud noise. She instantly wakes thinking many things but eventually heads for bed. Kenny and the young lady at the bar are interrupted and confronted by what turns out to be the young lady's pimp who hustles her out of the bar. Kenny then leaves and retraces his route back to Celia's house. He then walks up to the front door. Time is 11:55pm. Why did Celia seem disturbed by the reflection in the compact mirror? Why does she feel it is the same car behind her? Why would Kenny leave the diner in such a hurry after seeing Celia leave? Why would his path take him in the exact same direction to Celia's house? Why did he return to Celia's house after the bar? Is he a stalker
a burglar
a killer? Or
is there some other possible explanation? |
